The Chief of Police is responsible for providing executive leadership for the effective organization and supervision of all phases and operations of the department. The Chief oversees a department of 93 full and part-time personnel including 74 sworn officers, and a budget of $14,588,076. In 2024 the department responded to 49,846 calls for service. Patrol officers and sergeants are unionized positions. Dispatch services are handled by Rock County.

The Chief of Police is appointed by the Beloit Police and Fire Commission, and reports to the City Manager. The salary range is $140,000 – $160,000 +/- DOQ. An excellent City of Beloit benefit package is offered. While residency is not required, it is encouraged.
